DAY 01: Adelaide to Middleton (82 km)
Collect your vehicle and make your way to Middleton, a popular coastal town. Explore the beautiful, open beaches or try your hand at beach fishing. Middleton also has some of South Australia’s best surfing beaches. Walk or bike ride along the Encounter Bikeway and take in the stunning views. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
DAY 02: Middleton to Mannum (111 km)
This morning depart Middleton and head to Mannum, the birthplace of the Australian Paddle Steamer. Situated on the banks of the Lower Murray River and boasts some of the best cruising waters on the entire Murray system. Explore the historical Mannum Dock Museum and discover the history of the Murray lands region. Take a relaxing cruise on an authentic paddle steamer (own expense) or hike one of the many scenic walks around the area.
DAY 03: Mannum to Berri (193 km)
Today travel alongside the mighty Murray River until you reach Walker Flat. It’s here where you will need to take the ferry to cross the river. Once on the other side drive pass quaint towns including Swan Reach. Travel along the Sturt Highway and stop off at Waikerie. Sample chocolate at the town’s famous Havenhand Chocolate Factory. Continue on the highway to Berri. Visit Ruston’s Roses, Australia’s largest rose garden. Explore some of the 26 acres of gardens and the 4000 rose varieties. Spend the rest of the day wandering through the galleries, fruit stalls and wineries.
DAY 04: Renmark to Adelaide (257 km)
Drive back along the Sturt Highway to Adelaide. Travel through the pretty Barossa and take your time to explore some of the region’s best wineries. Stop off at the Barossa Farmers Markets and Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop.
The car is booked until the following day and should be returned to either the city or airport depot, by the same time as it was picked up on day 1 to avoid any additional charges.
