Margaret River

Margaret River used to be a chilled out surfing town… Well, the surf is still up and the beach still beckons but these days you’ll find a change in style; more sophistication and class. You can enjoy world-class restaurants, sample award-winning wines and indulge in heavenly beauty and spa treatments.

Places to stay at Margaret River range from smart resorts scattered along the coast to chic apartment-style accommodation located in the township. Wander downtown for coffee, gourmet supplies, art galleries and book store browsing.

Margaret River is still about natural beauty of course; uncrowded beaches, a pristine environment, stunning drives through karri forests and grazing lands. We are sure you will enjoy the mix of sophistication and nature.

If you are interested in viewing and learning more about Aboriginal art, we highly recommend a stop at Tunbridge Gallery, the only commercial gallery in the South West of Western Australia exclusively showcasing Aboriginal art. All works are sourced only from art centres owned and run by aboriginal communities. The gallery stocks a large selection of paintings and prints from the all the Kimberley art centres, paintings and weaving from many of the Western Desert art centres as well as mimih sticks and baskets from Arnhem Land and carvings from the Tiwi Islands. Tunbridge Gallery is committed to showing top end work as well as encouraging emerging artists.

Tunbridge Gallery is located in the Margaret River township at Shop 3, 101 Bussell Highway, just over the road from the Margaret River Visitor Centre. Gallery Hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Saturday and 10:00am to 3:00pm Sundays. Contact (+61 8) 9758 7900, www.tunbridgegallery.com.au .
