Geraldton
The city port of Geraldton is situated 400km north of Perth and is the main administration centre of the states Mid-West region. Together with the surrounding Greenough district Geraldton has a population of just over 32000 residents who enjoy a near perfect climate. Reached from Perth by the Brand Highway Geraldton is a popular stopover point for travellers heading north. Geraldton’s busy port is a major export centre for Grain, Iron ore, Talcum and other minerals.
The fishing boat harbour is one of the worlds leading processing ports for the rock lobster trade where these succulent crustaceans are processed for live export. The Houtman Abrolhos Islands lie just 60km to the west, this low-lying group of Islands are the site of many disastrous shipwrecks.
