DAY 01: Launceston
After collecting your vehicle the time is yours to explore Launceston, Tasmania’s second largest city, nestled in the hilly country where the Tamar, North Esk and South Esk rivers meet. Only 10 minutes from the city centre is the magnificent Cataract Gorge, here almost vertical cliffs line the banks of the South Esk River as it enters the Tamar.

 

DAY 02: Launceston to Freycinet National Park (267 km)
Depart Launceston and travel north-east to Scottsdale. Continue south east to St Helens and along the way stop at Pyengana to take a walk at St Columba Falls and buy some local gourmet cheese. Travel south to Freycinet National Park. Along the way travel through the towns of Scamander and St Mary’s, before stopping for pancakes at Elephant Pass. Or take the coast road from Falmouth to the Chain of Lagoons. Stop at the small resort town of Bicheno before continuing south through Coles Bay
to the Freycinet National Park.

 

DAY 03: Freycinet National Park
Time at leisure today to explore all that the Freycinet National Park and has to offer, including abundant wildlife and spectacular beaches including Wineglass Bay and a variety of walking trails.

 

DAY 04: Freycinet National Park to Richmond (163 km)
Depart Freycinet National Park this morning, perhaps making a stop near Swansea at one of the wineries or berry farm. Visit the Bark Mill and East Coast Museum. Continue south on the Tasman Highway to Triabunna, a former whaling base. Travel south to Orford, where the Church of St John has a beautiful 14th Century stained glass window and perhaps stop for beautiful coastal scenery at Shelley or Spring Beach, where you can also walk the cliff top trail between these two beaches. Arrive into Richmond with time to explore this historic village with many treasures of Tasmania’s colonial past. The much photographed Richmond Bridge is the oldest surviving freestone bridge in Australia (1823-25). Wander streets lined with sandstone buildings that now serve as showplaces for the best of Tasmania’s fine art and crafts.

 

DAY 05: Richmond to Hobart (26 km)
Leaving Richmond, travel across the Derwent River and onto Hobart. Hobart is an attractive city built around a beautiful Harbour and in the shadow of Mount Wellington. Places of interest include, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Constitution Dock, Sandy Bay, Salamanca Place and Battery Point.

 

DAY 06: Hobart
This morning return your vehicle prior to the time it was collected on Day 1 to avoid additional charges.
